A Yin Yoga Journey to your Inner Wisdom

South Crete, Kato Zakros

September 28th – October 4th, 2020

7 days – 6 nights

I am so grateful to host your seasonal and emotional transition in the sacred place of Kato Zakros, where the sun still nourishes our hearts in the beginning of autumn.

Man or woman, give your true self a chance to explore the wisdom of your body, recuperate your inner power, welcome your intuition, offering a fresh start for a compassionate and honest communication with yourself.

Here you will find all the space and time you need to come in contact with your body, experience your emotions and learn to follow your personal flow.

Maria Levantinou

During our seven day retreat I will immerse you into the quiet and deep practice of Yin yoga. Discovering your inner peace and strength through meditation, ancient myths and storytelling, therapeutic vibrations, deep relaxation and mindfulness techniques, you will experience a self-healing process and a conscious connection with your inner wisdom.

Drawing knowledge from different spiritual traditions of the world, ancient and modern techniques of yoga, we will share, create and celebrate our ability to love, nurture and heal. Where body, emotion, mind, spirit and soul meet, we are led back to what we call “Sacred”.

This Retreat is only for 10 people

Starting the Journey at Kato Zakros

Kato Zakros remains one of the most original, unspoiled, non touristic destinations in Crete. Far from the over developed tourist regions of Crete, in the most eastern place, Kato Zakros combines the ruins of important Minoan palace with beautiful beaches and exceptional walking ways.

Stella’s Traditional

“Stella’s Traditional” is a small complex of 8 studios-apartments, built exactly right on the top of the amphitheatrical, fertile valley of Kato Zakros. It is situated at a conspicuous location, overlooking the sea high above the tops of the olive trees, which grow lower at the valley.

All studios benefit from their own veranda, “crammed” with jasmine and voukamvilies, pergola and swinging chair, with views into the evergreen, multicolored garden. For a great view to the sea and more isolation the roof gardens of the studios are a marvelous choise. In the garden you will find sun beds to enjoy the Cretan sun and hammocks under pergolas and trees to enjoy tranquility and peace. In the back yard, according the season you can collect your organic fruits (grapes, figs, etc.)

At the fully equipped outdoor kitchen you will find all the basic ingredients for your breakfast: bread, butter, marmelade, thyme honey, pieces of milk, juices, local olive oil and all the essential elements for cooking, salt, pepper, herbs, sugar and much more.

Practicing Amidst Earth and Sky

Through traditional and modern Yoga practices, experiential exercises, techniques of relaxing physical and mental tension, healing sounds and vibrations, free and spontaneous movement of the body, mindfulness and deep relaxation techniques, we reconnect with nature in and around us.

Our practices will take place in the garden among the palm trees or the roof garden enjoying the sea view during sunset.

‘My favourite thing is doing nothing and resting after that’

Spanish Proverb

You will have plenty of time to enjoy nature, slow down, swim in deep blue waters, explore, immerse yourself in local cretan culture and, before everything, follow what your heart desires.

Meet your teacher

Maria Levantinou is the creator of EYT ( Emotional Yoga Therapy ), a system that balances mind, body and emotions, perfectly suited to the needs of today’s life rhythms.

Her spiritual journey began through theatre, where she was given the opportunity to experiment with the methods and methodologies by which the mind, body and breath integrate and blend in the Department of Theater Studies in the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. After completing her Postgraduate Studies in Aesthetic Philosophy (MPhil), her introduction to yoga came naturally as an inner need.

She was trained in India in the system of Satyananda Yoga and in Ayurvedic Massage Therapy. Her desire for an honest interaction with the body, taking into account the needs of each human being, led her to Italy and straight into the intuitive teaching of Diane Long, direct disciple of Vanda Scaravelli. Following from this, she met her Yin teacher Biff Mithoefer and completed all three trainings in Yin Yoga (Yin Yoga Teacher Training, I. Taoism, Anatomy and Sequencing, II. Embracing the Yin Path and III. Storytelling); Since then she follows her own Yin Yoga path and creates her own style of teaching and training.

Through her personal apprenticeship with her beloved teachers Angela Farmer and Victor van Kooten, she keeps exploring the free expression of the body always respecting each practitioner’s nature and choices, allowing space for curiosity, play and creativity.

In 2009 she met her root teacher Dr. Carlos de León and since then she has been studying and practicing, exploring different spiritual traditions such as Shamanism, Chi kung, Vajrayanna, Hindu Tantra, Dzogchen, Kabbalah, and Body Psychotherapy. Among her spiritual masters are: HH 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje, Namkai Norbu Rinpoche, Khandro Rinpoche, Swami Shankarananda, Swami Chandrashekhar Nanda Nath.
